About Justkids

JustKids was founded by the Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (EFry) in response to the clear evidence that Canadian children with a parent in the justice system are at significant risk for poor life outcomes.

In countries where these children are recognized as a distinct marginalized subgroup and programs to help them exist, the impact of parental incarceration on a child’s future is greatly reduced. At JustKids, our mission is to raise Canadian awareness of the unique challenges faced by children with a parent in prison and to foster the development of programs and services to support them.

JustKids is a movement. It is a call to action for governments, social service organizations and individuals across the county to take the steps necessary to protect some of this country’s youngest and most vulnerable citizens. They need our help. After all, they’re just kids.
